Helen Thomas in Washington DC. Thomas was a reporter and member of the White House Press Corps and worked for the UPI, United Press International for almost 6 decades, as a correspondent, and later as White House bureau chief. She left UPI to work for Hearst Newspapers as a columnist from 2000 to 2010. Thomas, an Arab-American, covered every President of the United States from the Eisenhower administration until the second year of the Obama administration.
