Mimose Pierre sits under a tree in her yard with her baby Maryse February 8, 2012 in the neighborhood of Cite Soleil, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Pierre used to be a restavek, (a form of modern day slavery), for her older sister. She is able to spend more time caring for her baby by bringing bags of plastic bottles she collected from the streets of Cite Soleil to Sant Koleksyon a collection center, and receiving $4 HTG, Haitian Gourdes per pound in exchange for the bottles.
