Vanessa Hernandez, 37 lays in her bed in the women’s ward waiting to undergo amputation surgery of her left leg on February 21, 2019, at Occidente Hospital in Santa Rosa de Copan, Honduras. Hernandez has been suffering from elephantiasis on her left leg for many years and has finally decided to undergo amputation preferring to walk with a prosthetic leg than the extra weight of her previous leg. Her family and friends have all been very supportive of her decision.
